I have a website for my artwork now! Head on over to http://www.cheynestudio.com/ to keep in touch. Thanks!
Hoard
[hawrd, hohrd] (n.) 1. A supply or accumulation that is hidden or carefully guarded for preservation, future use, etc.
Welcome to my hoard.
This is a little corner of the world wide web where I sometimes post the projects, pieces, or concept art I work on--from past, the present, or for the future.
It is a laughable thing really--many of my better pieces are not uploaded onto here, I rarely update it, and there is no grand or glorious purpose to this page.
Despite all of this, I hope you enjoy browsing and encourage you to check back periodically.
My YouTube account is the audio side of my artistic endeavors, where you can hear snippets and rough recordings of the folk songs I stumble across or write.
You can check it out at:
Thanks for stopping by!
God bless,
M.R.C

What?! An Update?
Today seemed like a good day to dust off the blog.
This dusting is about as thorough as a seven-year-old on cobweb duty, and will probably be left on the shelf to collect more dust.
I don't recall if I shared the link to my new site I made back in November.
http://othello.alma.edu/~cheyne1mr/Index.html
There's still things I hope to change about it, but it will have to wait. Its a start, if nothing else.
Also, here is a link to my DeviantArt account: http://saxonwithaxe.deviantart.com/
So now you're all linked in.
Also, here is the linework for one of my illustrations I'm doing for my Tuatha De Danann project.
So much more to do on this one. But there she be.
Alrright, folks.
Keep it barbaric, and have a great few months.

My Self Portrait is done!
Ladies and Gents, it my immense pleasure to announce that....
(Drumroll)
My very first 3D portrait is done!
A self-portrait of yours truly for sculpture class, made of Ohio clay and underglaze. Oy.
What a project. We had a handful of weeks to complete these, on top of two others that were running at the same time--namely, stone carving and metal sculptures.
Absolute madness.
But we got them done.
This doesn't look entirely like me, but the essence is there.
I underglazed it and did my best to make it look like aged bronze...which my camera didn't pick up on because it is an imbecile. The fact that it is a cell phone could have something to do with that. But in real life, it does have bronze qualities.
What can I say? I am obsessed with Art History, and History itself. And it shows up in my work.
I want to become better at this...over TIME. Note the keyword there.
Overall, not a bad start to my world in ceramic sculpture.
I think I'll stick to wood and metal in the long run.
The head fell off the night before I was going to fire it in the kiln, and I had to start over.
What a process.

Puppy Nostalgia
Got a border collie pup this past October; she has grown immensely since then. In both size and energy (I did not realize it was possible for the latter to occur.)
Here is a photo I took of her on the first day.
Yes. She really is this wonderful...
Most of the time.

Of Mozart and Piano
This is a slightly grainy photo I took on my Blackberry last year sometime. (Rest in peace, O dilligent little cell phone!) I stumbled across this file tonight while I was browsing my computer and ignoring the massive stack of homework sitting behind me.
The photo triggered the memory of this heart-rending, placid, and melancholy song by Mozart, called "Piano Concerto No.23 In A Major". It is one of my favorites. It gently breaks your heart while peacefully mending it at the same time.
Nothing better to inspire the visual side of art than the audible expression of it.

Puka
This little fellow is Puka, the little savior of the day in a 25 page "Get-Better-Soon" fairy tale I scribbled up for a friend.
Fun to draw, to be sure. Either because he is entirely green or he has goat legs. Not sure which, but it really is refreshing to paint something this lighthearted and ridiculous.

Me Goodself...
I'm camera shy.
Shots of me are quite rare and hard to come by, so I thought I would document the past year's best ones---for the record book.
My sister Em snapped this one:
Irish Artistry was excellent, and I highly recommend them. They took this next shot, amongst many others:
My sister also snapped this one:
